Pancake Day!
Tomorrow is pancake day! (I’d forgotten but Carol reminded me!) We’ll have pancakes on the go from when we open and then later on there’ll be various savoury and sweet pancakes – pancakes with salmon, creme fraiche and dill, blueberry pancakes are a couple of ideas of what might be on the menu! And if you are planning to make pancakes at home, to go with them we’ve got lemons and sugar or maple syrup or what could be delicious as toppings are the new Devilish Sauces from the Macphies at Glenbervie – chocolate, caramel or a bit healthier…. mango or raspberry coulis!

Scotland the Best!
Andrew, Kate and I went to the Grampian Food Forum Dining Club last night at the Marcliffe with Peter Irvine talking about his book ‘Scotland the Best’ – it was a fascinating insight into how he has complied his book and how the entries meet his grade – it’s a fantastic way to discovering the real Scotland – we use it all the time, we sell it and we are so chuffed to be in it!
Ria’s Sambal and Soya Sauces
We’ve just taken in a new batch of these delicious sauces. Ria lives in Aberdeenshire with her husband but is originally from Holland with Indonesian ancestry and her recipes are inspired by this. They are totally delicious and incredibly versatile. Her homemade chilli sauce as well as being used for stir fries can be added to so many things – sauteed tatties, rice, couscous, soup or to add a real zing to meatballs! Her soya sauce is amazingly good with fish and spinach! They really are worth trying…..they make even the laziest supper outstandingly good!

Good luck Kathryn!
Good luck to Kathryn Christie who can’t work in the Farmshop today because she has been selected to run with the Scottish U18 team at Cardiff this weekend.
